Movember and other happenings

This month Casey has been growing a mustache for Movember; supporting men's health. The male faculty at Kimberly middle school decided to participate and grow mustaches. Casey said this wasn't much of a challenge for half of the guys he works with because they already sported different facial hair. In my history with Casey I have never seen him go for more than a few days without shaving. I know he could grow a full beard with ease, but he has never had the desire to and I'm thankful for that (I don't love prickly kisses ; ). About two weeks into this Casey wanted to give up and shave, but he's stayed strong and continued. He finds his mustache annoying and messes with it quite a bit with his fingers or lip. While I wholeheartedly support this cause and am proud of Casey for sticking with it I'll be happy to have my smooth man back in a week.

Below are Casey's weekly pictures starting a couple of days in and leading up to this past week. I'll post his last shot with Thanksgiving.

Casey's basketball season has begun. This past week he had two games. They lost the first to at an awat game to Wood River and won the second against Jerome. Casey has a decent sized team this year; all with varying talent (but that's nothing new). Casey has had to do early morning practice this month which means he's up at a quarter to five and has to be gone by five twenty. Goobie hasn't loved the cold weather and has been giving Casey grief getting started in these early mornings, but luckily a couple of jumps and nothing more serious so far.
Our weather has been on the fridged side for the last couple of weeks. The kids don't love being kept inside so hopefully soon well get some days where it's not freezing and there isn't slush/mud all over. We've kept busy inside with lots of play dough time and crafts.
Friday morning we had an outing with our preschool group to Jump Time in Twin. It was much needed energy break; the kids could run around, jump, slide, and be loud. Peter kept climbing the tall slides and refusing to come down unless I was there to catch him. He also adored the area that was covered in trampolines and balls. Kendal wanted to do everything and had a blast with her Preschool buddies.
The kids got to go to Casey's first home game of the season on Friday. I know I can reign in Kendal easily but I expected Peter to be all over the place. He proved me wrong by staying by my side the whole first half and running back and forth with Kendal behind me the second half. Kendal likes cheering for the girls at random times during the game yelling "Go Bulldogs!", "Go basketballers!", or "Go Daddies players!". Peter even got into and said "Go Boodogs!" a few times.
Saturday morning we had the opportunity to clean our church. The kids are always willing to "help" and loved flowing us around and adding to the finger prints I was cleaning off of the windows. Our building is remodeling near the baptismal font. They had a baptism that night so I got the opportunity to clean the font from the dust and grime that construction has caused. It was nice spot of time sitting in the huge font cleaning and reflecting on my own baptism and the future baptisms of my kids.
After we cleaned we headed out towards Filer to go to landscape place that was holding a festival of trees event. The kids ate a breakfast, we walked around and voted for trees, and the kids saw Santa.  On the way to the event Kendal surprised us by saying we weren't seeing the real Santa. With further questioning she meant that Santa must be at the North Pole so we were seeing a helper Santa. (As always Kendal is a mountain of questions, she's very logical.) As we were in line to see Santa a local newspaper reporter came up and talked with us; he asked Kendal about what she's going to ask from Santa and took the kids' picture on Santa's lap. Their picture was posted today online along with an article about the event with a mention of Kendal in it. Neither kid was smiling in the photo, but at least they weren't crying.
This week we're headed to Logan for Thanksgiving; hoping for decent weather, great food, and good family times.
