Logan, Corn, Webb's

Last Monday we headed down to Logan for part of the week. Casey was helping put on the roof at David's house. The kids and I got to spend time with Grandma and Katherine. Tuesday the kids played around and we baked cookies to do a tea party at Nana's.
Wednesday morning Katherine took Kendal to get back to school hair cuts in the morning. Kendal was hoping for maybe an inch cut from her long locks, but she ended up with four inches off. Wednesday afternoon we went out to Nana's for a tea party. Nana had her best China out and the kids were excited to get to use the little tea cups. We had a wonderful time eating finger foods and chatting. Nana complimented Peter on how well he behaved. Kendal admired Nana's China cupboard contents and shell collection. She talked up a storm and loved asking Nana about her special things. We stayed longer and the kids got out the playschool circa 1960's play set they enjoy at Nana's house.

Thursday we met up for lunch at David and Anica's apartment pavilion. Afterwards the kids played a bit back at my parents till it warmed up enough to go over to the splash pad in North Logan. After dinner we headed home so Casey could start work Friday morning.

It's been a fun summer being able to visit family a bit more, help David on his house, and see its progression. We wish we were closer to help some more, but we'll do what we can in coming months.

Saturday we were thinking of things to do when Mom D told us corn was ready. The kids jumped at the offer to go to Grandma and Grandpa's so away we went for the next two days. Almost everyone made it out to join in and help with corn. We made it out at lunch time and spent the rest of the day picking, husking, cooking, cooling, cutting, and bagging corn. We had all of the kids there running around, eating / amounts of corn, getting wet, and just having so much fun with each other.

We stayed the night and got to join Grandma and Grandpa for church. Peter got to go to class with Grandma and Kendal was happy in a class of all girls. After a lunch the kids played and some rested till it was time for the Webb party. Casey has many fond memories of Sunday nights at his Grandparents house with cousins as he grew up. It was fun seeing all of the cousins grown up with families of their own. The next generation running around and spending time together. Someone said they thought Grandma and Grandpa (Webb) would be smiling down from Heaven and I know it's true. I love family and I love that family is eternal!

Catching up

I haven't posted in a while. I blame it on the lazy days of summer. We're just enjoying our simple days until our summer ends in a couple of weeks.

The kids are soaking up every bit of outside time they can get. They go out as soon as possible in the morning and stay out as long as they can. They've consumed countless popsicles, mastered their scooters, rode bikes endlessly, and found any shade they can to play with neighbors. We pulled out our kiddie pool and the kids enjoyed cooling off and getting wet for a couple of our hundred plus days at the end of July.

We got to head out to Raft River at the end of July for the Brown family reunion at the water slide. Both kids were happy to go down the slide on their own or with cousins so Casey and I had a relaxing time watching them. We ended the day at Casey's parents letting the kids enjoy cousin time and spending time with family.

We went to Balance Rock last week as a day excursion. We took a picnic lunch to eat at the nearby park then we explored around balance rock. The kids thought it was cool and loved spotting and following a little rock lizard around.

We had a family dinner at Terry and Sarah's on Sunday. The kids went wild (mostly outside) while the adults enjoyed the Olympics and chatting together.

Once Kendal knew her school supply list was posted she wasn't about to let many days go by without going to shop for them. (I'm a lame mom who scores awesome clearance at the end of seasons for the next year so Kendal's school clothes have been bought since February. ) I may have taken away clothes shopping but she got some redemption picking out her school supplies. She loved choosing which colors of notebooks, pencil cases, etc. she got. Her school requested each individual item have her name on it so I sat down one afternoon and wrote Kendal over one hundred and fifty times. My arthritis was acting up by the end and my impatience with the OCD that the elementary seems to have is growing.

This week we took Kendal to register for first grade. She was nervous but excited. We found out she week have two teachers Erickson & Hufsteller this year. Each teacher will have the class for half a day. It'll be interesting for sure, but Kendal's looking forward to it! She's also thrilled cousin David will be at Kimberly this year and while he may not end up in her class she's looking forward to seeing him, (that and the three recesses she gets ;)!

Casey went on a fishing day trip with Brett and Terry up to Hailey last Saturday. The kids were a bit jealous so we promised them a fishing day this week. We decided to go to Dirkies for the day today. We spent some time fishing. Kendal caught two fish and Casey had some bites. Then kids got to play on the playground and we had a picnic lunch before going to the lake. Once the kids found the sunny side they enjoyed themselves for a long while. Digging around and getting wet.
