June catch up

The last day of school was on June 3rd. Kendal got to go swimming at Nat So Pa with her school. Casey stayed back at school because he had to move classrooms. Peter had a field day at school and got to have picnic lunches his last few days of school. All three kids were sad to see this school year end. Kendal and Alice want the new school year to start as soon as it can. This summer I'm not pushing a ton with the kids. I expect them to read daily. Kendal and Peter have goals to work on prodigy online (math / English ) while Alice is putting more time into Waterford so she can continue her skills!

Right after the last day of school Casey went down to Pocatello for the rest of the weekend for a basketball tournament. His team only won one out of 4 games. It's always a gamble when you combine different ages, and levels of the high school and incoming high school girls for these summer tournaments.

Monday (6th) was Casey and my last day of work for the school year. Casey dropped off Kendal and Peter at a basketball camp and continued to work on his classroom, then the kids walked over to the middle school and joined him there for a bit. I took Alice with me to the Library to work on and finish up some things. Alice went through a plethora of books, did some Waterford and played on the big electronic white board. We came back home afterwards and dug into laundry and grocery shopping. Alice and Peter had track that evening and we ran more errands and grabbed a quick bite to eat after Casey's basketball practice.

Casey left at 3 in the morning on Tuesday (7th) to go on his DC trip with a group of student's and a few parents. I'll have to have him add a post since it wasn't me on this trip ; )

Kendal got 4 in. chopped off on the 7th. Her YW leader does hair and was happy to help Kendal get a fresh summer cut.

Kendal and Peter continued to have their basketball camp on the 7th and 8th. Both of their teams won a scrimmage on their final day. Alice and Peter had a Track Meet on the 8th. Peter 4th in 400, 9 ft in long jump, and 12' 4 in shot put, and second in hurdles. Alice jumped 4' 4 in the long jump, 3rd in hurdles, and 8th in her 50 meter dash. Grandma Darrington got to come and cheer on the kids as well!

Kendal had a youth Temple trip on the 7th to do baptisms for the dead. She really loves going and had a wonderful time serving.

Alice and Peter got a couple of play dates in at the Bergs doing their water slide. Both got a sunburn the first time which hurt and took some time to heal.

I got Casey at 3 in the morning on Saturday (11th). We had a ward party at a park that morning. The kids played around with other ward buddies and crashed a little street fair going on at the other end of the park. All the ward kids that went came away with a haul of stickers, books, and other random business items. Both girls got their faces painted.

Kendal had Volleyball open gym in the morning on the 13th, and 15th, and basketball open gym both of those evenings to work on her skills. This coming school year she'll try out for the school teams, so this practice is a great start for her. Kendal got to go with the youth to a Temple Trip on the 14th.

Our stake put on Activity Day camps. I went on Tuesday (14th) to help out with the girls groups. Each ward put on a booth / activity and there were ten booths that groups rotated through. I went around with a group of girls from activity to activity. Unfortunately it was chilly and windy that day so even with a jacket and shell coat I was pretty frozen for most of the day. I went the next day to set up for the boys day and dropped off Peter for his day at the camp. Peter had a good time at the camp and enjoyed his day going around to the different activities. Peter only got an hour break and then head back to his and Alice's last track meet. Because it was their final track meet the kids competed for medals. Alice took 3rd in her hurdles and fifth in her 50 meter dash, and was just outside of medals taking sixth in her long jump. Peter got third in his 400 and 4th in his hurdles. He was just outside of medals on his shot put taking 6th place, and I'm unsure of where he ended up in his long jump. Both Alice and Peter improved over the month and enjoyed their track season!

Casey and I stole away for a belated birthday date / lunch on the 16th. We ate at La Fiesta in town and shopped for his Father's day and walked around home depot and Lowe's for some house thoughts.

Casey had another basketball tournament on the 17th and 18th in Mountain home. This time they decided to pull up some middle school girls to play since there wasn't enough high school girls to fill the JV team. Those middle school girls rocked it and both Varsity and JV ended up wining their brackets! While Casey was off at his tournament the kids and I took advantage of the wind and flew kites, and we also prepared for Father's by making treat's!

Father's day we chose to have an easy morning spoiling Casey at home with sleeping in and breakfast. After we packed up the car to head to Logan. We had our church in the car and listened to come follow me podcasts all of the way down. We got to have everyone there at my parents for Father's day dinner. It's the first time in a while all of the Grandkid's have been together!

We got to spend this last week in Logan! Casey was up working for David each day. Peter got to help Grandpa and Uncle Tony a bit here and there. We went out to Nana's house a few times. The kids picked some treasures that they get to enjoy from Nana. Each picked out a cherished teddy or two and a bear. Alice and Maggie were little besties any time they got together during the week. They played so well and had such a fun time together. We got a few visits in with Nana at her place. We played away our days, got to see Issac and Elliot in their T ball games, and had fun seeing them throughout the week. Thursday we went to a delayed birthday activity for Peter and went to see Lightyear as a family. It was  fun origin story to watch and the kids liked it a lot! Friday afternoon we rode four wheelers at the shop while Kendal had a driving lesson with Casey. (Kendal needs to grow a bit to see over the dash, and work on her break skills ; ) We had a cook out Friday at Tony's and the kids did a water slide and played around after we ate. Saturday was a chill day, with a visit with Nana and time with cousins before we headed home.

Peter's birthday was on Tuesday during our visit! He woke excited to get to his birthday presents. He got a Hoverboard from us and a couple of books and his favorite treats to enjoy! Aunt Katherine gave him a Lego book, a Pete the Cat book, and a build a bear outfit. Grandma and Grandpa / David and Anica gave Peter an awesome Harry Potter Lego set that he's enjoyed a lot! We went out to David and Anica's house that afternoon and the kids played on the blow up water slide! We went out to eat at Chick Fill A for dinner and had cake and ice cream afterwards back at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Peter spent the rest of the week on his hoverboard. He impressed us with his skills and agility going around on the board (both Casey and I tried the board and quickly gave up ; ).

While in Logan we finalized and purchased a house plan. We should be able to buy our lot in July. We're crossing our fingers and toes that things go well for us in this whole process since our start hasn't been smooth. It's a dream to build this home, and we're truly grateful.
