July round up

We spent the night of the 11th in Raft River and then headed to Logan for the week. We had a chill few days. The kids played and Casey worked. I got in a couple of visits with Nana. Wednesday afternoon we pulled out the pool and the sprinkler and the kids played in it a bit. That evening we went up to play at a park in Hyde Park with David / Anica and the boys.

Thursday morning Peter, Alice and I went to story time with Anica and the boys in Smithfield. For lunch we met up with Billie and her kids at Adams park and enjoyed some mini golf afterwards. We ended up back at David and Anica's to play in the sand with the boys that afternoon.

Friday we headed down to Salt Lake for a day trip. We went to This is the Place heritage park. We got to explore the houses and buildings listening and learning about pioneer times. The kids got to participate in a bunch of activities. (Washing clothes, pushing a plow, getting shaved, panning for gold, little train rides, pulling a handcart, a couple of crafts, and seeing some animals). We explored from top to bottom! It was a hot day with lots of walking, but a good time nonetheless. Alice's favorite part was the train ride and ice cream. Peter loved panning for gold. Kendal enjoyed seeing all the chores and buildings. We ate lunch at the park and finished off with ice cream.

Afterwards we decided to get indoors to some AC so we went down to the Clark Planetarium at Gateway Mall. It was a really cool building full of so many interactive displays and games for the kids to learn about space, planets, exploration, etc. Peter wanted to "fly" all of the things, Kendal wanted to play the games, and Alice just wanted to do it all!

We went four wheeling Saturday morning at the shop. The kids had a good time together and Grandpa spoiled them with chocolate milk and doughnuts. That afternoon we headed out toward home. We stopped in to see Grandma D for her birthday and take her out for a birthday dinner in Burley. We ate at Bandito Burrito with Casey's parents and Aunt then headed home.

Alice gave her first "talk" last Sunday. She whispered her short talk, but gave it nonetheless so I'm proud of her. Kendal played her piano piece "I'm a child of God" that she's been working on for months in Sacrament meeting. She did a wonderful job. We're so very proud of her accomplishment!! This past week was mostly easy going. Casey had training for work at the beginning of the week. I went hiking early in the morning on M/W/F with Shayla and Kate (I went a few times in the last month and we'll continue till school starts.) I gave the boys haircuts Monday morning, and Kendal and I both got our hair chopped Thursday. Casey and Kendal went to a YM / YW activity where the youth played in foam and had a water fight.

Friday Casey, Kendal, and Peter joined Brett, David, and Becca on a hike / fishing day at Independence Lake. They hiked a little over 7 miles and got some fishing in. Everyone caught at least one fish. The kids weren't very into fishing, but they had a good time. It was a long day, but a very good day.

Saturday Casey, Kendal, and Peter went on another adventure. They joined some friends and their dads and went Kayaking from Centennial park to Pillar Falls. They took lunch with them and had a day full of kayaking, swim, and play. These kids are the very best of friends, and the kids have sure missed Adi and Deacon. It was a memorable day for sure! That evening we ate some pizza pie and apple pie in honor of pioneer day, then we watched some Olympics.
