Summer days drifting away. . .

We have our daily happenings lately - chores, reading, playing, Jemma 2x a week, Kendal and Peter away most afternoons with friends. The days repeat and seem to blur together, but we don't mind -with school starting at the end of the month we'll enjoy our lazy summer days while they last with a few happenings coming up (Yellowstone, Logan).

On the 21st Casey helped put together a shed for a new ward member. He also finally got into the dentist to fix his crown (that was broken for a few months) and he got in for a cleaning also. Casey had conferences for a couple of days 22nd / 23rd. They are prepping for the school year with plans on top of plans and a lot of unknowns. People are clamoring for concrete plans and the school can't do that right now. They have to prep and come up with many scenarios for school, but just like the flux of COVID they have to be flexible right now going into the school year. Casey will have to prep his first few weeks as if they'll be online, and he's on a teacher / safety committee to help transitions be safe / good. Casey will also have to move his classroom (along with the rest of the 7th grade team) to another building in the next month as well. This past week and this next week Casey's on water duty for Brett and Vanessa. We get endless garden goods for a week. We'll see if we can consume it all! Casey went running a couple of days and took the kids with him. Good for the kids - slow going for daddy ; )
We have decided to put the kids into school. I understand people's reservations about school and all of the unknowns associated with it. I know Peter will do so much better having a teacher that isn't mommy to learn from. Kendal is so social that she craves and needs that interaction to help her in school / life. I want to support the schools and feel that we as a family are connected to the district so it warrants our support. We know the school year might be a big bag of ?, but we'll be flexible and do our best to ride the waves.
Last weekend we took the kids to the Minidoka Internment camp. Casey goes every year with his students and they learn about the Japanese that were held here in Idaho during World War 2. We've felt it's important during these crazy times to give more awareness to our kids. Knowing our history is so important to understand people, where we came from, why things happened,  changing the future, etc. It was a couple miles of walking on a hot day, but the kids were troopers and we saw some neat buildings, with Daddy giving us an audio tour along the way.

Peter had his well check this past Monday. As an 8 yr old he's 56 lbs (50%) and 49.75 in tall (45%). He's healthy and doing good!
Kendal has gotten to go to a volleyball open gym on Wednesday's for the past few weeks. She's loved going and is looking forward to her upcoming season. Unfortunately soccer is shut down in Kimberly, so we'll probably put Peter in a Twin Falls soccer league for the season.

I had a late movie night with my YW group this past week. We watched the Princess Bride. The girls had Italian sodas and some treats. It was fun showing them a classic cheesy flick that  I love. The kids wanted to see it also so today they watched it. Alice liked Pwincess Buttercup, Peter liked the hero (Wesley) and Kendal liked it all!
I've also made more masks and have started getting back to school put together for the kids.

After a work meeting for Casey we went down to Logan. It was a busy weekend; we pulled out 16 windows and installed new ones all around the house and redid a part of my parents bathroom floor. It was quite a process, but we got it down and were able to get everything we wanted done over a two day period. We pulled the pool out for the kids on Friday, and they just played around the yard / house on Saturday with each other, Katherine, and cousins. Our days were full, busy, and tiring, but the results are awesome and the house looks great!

We started being able to go back to church at month and went again yesterday. I was grateful the kids did well both weeks and with a bribe Alice kept her mask on the whole time yesterday. Even with the short meetings we're grateful to be able to go to church, partake of the sacrament, feel the spirit, and worship with our ward.
