Finishing October

Pete and Kendal had a team dinner on the 20th and got to celebrate the seniors that night. Ttheir district meet on the 21st. Kendal did great and got a season best in her run! She's had a good season physically, but needs to work on her mental toughness. Pete did well, but got a cramp on the last hill so he didn't get the finish he hoped for! He had a really good season with a lot of growth and has a solid determination for what he wants to achieve next year! Both Casey and I got out of work a bit early and grabbed Alice so we could be out there to cheer the kids on. We're so very proud of their hard work and dedication to this season!!

Alice had a Halloween activity days party on the 23rd. She had fun getting into costume and playing games with her group. She's also had practice on Monday and Wednesday's for her travel basketball league. Between bell club, basketball, and piano Alice will be the busiest after school this winter.

Kendal gathered some cross country friends and she Sophie, and Sadie have their speeches for their class in my library on the 24th. We carved pumpkins later that day. It was an easy going day at home so we had the kids do their pumpkins earlier than usual.

Alice had her primary program on the 25th. She did a wonderful job on her part and songs! Casey was up with his class and I helped with a couple of songs from the audience! I love the program, the primary kids being such an amazing spirit with their music and words!

This past week was parent teacher conferences. Casey went to Kendal and Pete's before his basketball open gym. Both are doing well. Kendal has her usual straight A's, and a lot of stress with a big load of classes this year. Pete is learning the hard way to keep in top of his school work and figuring out he has to redo tests when he should've probably studied better before. Alice got her usual report that she's a smart little lady, but can get chatty (which her teacher says she gets her work done so quickly that's when she gets bored and chatty.)

Alice, Pete and I went to Tubbs with some friends on the 30th. The weather was iffy and had rained, plus the other schools in the area were in so we had the the run of the place. The boys took off in the maze, and the little girls went another, while us moms meandered around to we got out. That evening Casey went off to the district football game, Kendal and I watched a movie together at home, and Alice and Pete went to the Hunts for dinner and a movie night!

Halloween! Pete joined the Dansie's Boys and went over to Pocatello to watch the state cross country races. He had fun cheering on the team and got back mid afternoon. Kendal headed out to Alycin's for the night. They made dinner and treats, then watched a movie! Pete headed out with buddies and watched a movie at Austin's house. Casey's had a cold so I took Alice out trick or treating. It rained the whole time, but Alice wanted to keep going and we hit up most of Ballard's way for some goodies! She watched a Muppet show with Casey and I before bed. Thankfully we got some extra sleep with daylight savings.

Some extra pictures from the lady two weeks.

Homecoming and sports

Alice had try outs for a traveling basketball team at the beginning of the month. She made the team and has started practices. She's with coach Wyatt (who she had a couple of years ago). Shes also continued with the hand bell club, and got her Christmas recital songs!

The week of the 5th -8th was homecoming week. Alice dressed up most of the days(she skipped hero day and did candy corn day, western day, and spirit day. Casey and I dressed up every day with the middle school. Kendal and Pete just participated in spirit day. The home-comming parade was on the 8th. The kids joined the cross country crew and rollerbladed down center street with their team. That night I put on a movie night for the middle school. It didn't go how I had hopped or expected, but it is what it is. The students watched (talked through) the movie 'Project Hail Mary'.

We had no school on the 9th, but Casey and I went to a PD conference at Canyon Ridge. We learned about classroom management, and AI in schools.  Alice got to go to activity days that afternoon to talk about favorite messages from Conference, and learned about making goals. That night Kendal and Pete went with Casey to the game. Alice and I stayed home and watched fining Dori and the Great British Baking show.

The next morning Casey and I went to Lochlan's baptism. He personally invited his favorite primary teacher to come and to be part of his confirmation circle. I got to lead the music for the baptism. That evening was the homecoming dance. Kendal met up with her group of d\friends at the dance and had fun with them that night. (She didn't get meg group pictures though! : /  Pete was off with some buddies to the Jae's Place October activity. He tied fr best costume and got a most creative award for his pumpkin. (I had to document the heals try on. Kendal is not girly, and having to wear orthotics, this is rare indeed. She was also procrastinating leaving by playing her "get the jitters out songs".)

Kendal and Pete had a bye week home-comming week and were out at Gooding this past week on the13th.  Kendal ran the race in 27:22. It was a season best for her! Pete had a time of 20:08. It ws his second best time this year (his fastest was on a flatter course (in Twin) and this one was full of hills. He passed up some kids he usually is behind and just had a great run overall! Both kids (and their teams that won) put in some great work and did so well!

It was the end of the quarter for Casey and I this week. I'll move on to the next batch of 6th and 7th grader's tomorrow. Our quarters are off this year on the Calendar so I only had students for 8 weeks this quarter and I'll end up with the next batch for 10 weeks. Casey will start open gym this week and Kendal and Pete will have Cross Country Districts on Wednesday.

End of September

Pete got his braces off on the 22nd. He was so excited and this day couldn't come soon enough. I made sure to make Pete and Kendal some caramel's (Kendal because I promised and didn't follow through a couple years ago).

The kids had a meet at Kasota on the 25th. It was a race they've never ran before and a bit complicated to navgate. Both Kendal and Pete had issues in their race (breathing, shoes united. . .). They still had decent runs for the day. I was able to go out and support them. Alice got to go play with Naomi and James for a bit, then Vanessa brought her out to the meet.

That same day I forwent an opportunity to go to Jae's Place with Casey and the middle school staff. Casey listened to the story behind Jae's Place and got to pick out some boots. He was sweet and picked out a pair for me as well since I missed out.

The next day we went to the BTB run/walk in honor of Bradley Beaver who passed away last year. Because Kendal and Pete couldn't run a race in season their team littered the "course" around Dirkies to guide and cheer on the participants. Alice, Casey and I did the walk.

This past week Kendal and Pete's race was on Thursday. They ran the Bob Conley race (Pocatello). Both put in good work for the day. Neither reached their goals that day, but they did well. It's hard when you are there for over 3 / 5 hours before you run so you can get hot and restless. My parents were so great and trekked up from Logan to support them.

Same routine with teaching, school, and life for us. Alice is enjoying the Bell ringers club so far and continues to progress in piano.
