End of Track / Mother's day weekend. . .

Casey and Pete had the middle school Track districts on the 6th out in Filer. Pete took second in the Tripple Jump PR'd with a 28.75, First in his 4 x 4, 800 (2:58) 4th place, and the 1600 (6:11) 4th place. We are proud of his progress and hard work this year in Track. He's gearing up for a lot of running this summer to be ready for cross x in the fall.

Kendal had her districts for Track over two days (7th /8th) in Kimberly. Her two mile run was on Wednesday. She started well, but her lame shin splints got to her and she was struggling to finish the race. Thursday she ran her mile and had her second best time of the season. She wore her shin sleeves to help with her legs. Kendal worked hard this season. While she didn't achieve some of the goals she set for herself she put her heart into the season and will continue to work hard as she goes into Summer running.

The Middle School had its Hobby Day on the 9th. Pete chose to go bowling with his buddies and had a fun day doing that. Casey was over ax throwing and took a group of about 20 students there for the morning. Since I start out at Stricker Friday mornings I missed out on joining any hobby day activities and was focused on getting AR stuff organized when I got to the middle school.

Friday afternoon I took Alice and Pete down to Logan. I wanted to spend some time with my Mom / family for Mother's day weekend so we made a brief trip down. Saturday we spent the morning planting flowers in my parents front yard and we hung out with everyone for the afternoon / evening. Shooting off bottle rockets, and playing games. We headed out at bedtime and came home late Saturday night.

Sunday was a nice day. Casey had the house all clean for me and made a yummy dinner for us all. We played tickets to ride in the afternoon together - Alice won!

This week was book fair week at Stricker. I also ran my AR party for 90 students Wednesday morning for the Middle School. I'm not going to lie these last two weeks of school are full of stress and a lot of to do's and being part time as THE librarian for the Middle School is hard when you're in charge of getting everything in and settled to end the school year.

Track / Easter time

Alice has been loving activity days this year! She has an awesome leader and a fun group of girls her age. Their group had been working on this rainbow for a few activities and finally finished on the 15th of this month.

Pete's had three track meets since I have last written. On the 15th he was at Oakley. He did decently that day coming in second 3rd in the 800, second in the mile, second in the 4 x 4 and 4th in the Tripple Jump. on the 22nd Pete was at home for his track meet. He got fourth in the 800, 4th in the mile, first in the 4 x 4 and 5th in Tripple Jump. (It wasn't his best day, but he was fighting a cold and couldn't breath through his nose well plus he hadn't slept well that week.) This last week he was in Wendell on the 29th. He got a PR in the 800 at 2:54 taking third place. He was one second off of his PR in the mile coming in at third in that race as well. His group was first in the 4 x 4 and He got second in the Triple Jump just .3 shy of his PR there. He has districts this week over in Filer and then will be done for the season.

All of these pics are from Kimberly. I didn't make it to Oakley because Alice had activity days, or Wendell because it was further away and I knew Alice wouldn't go nicely.

Kendal had a meet in Buhl on the day we had off of school on April 18th. She PR'd in both events getting 7:26 on her mile and 16:03 on her two mile. Casey went out with the team as an extra coach, and I left Pete and Alice for the afternoon to go watch. It was a cold day, but a great day for running. Kendal had an iffy week at Wendell on the 24th. It was a hot day and she was about 20 seconds off of her PR in both races. This last week Kendal has been sick and stuffed up. She also twisted her ankle in warm ups on her meet day at Kimberly. So she had a rough day completing her two mile run (she was in pain from breathing out of her mouth the whole time, and her ankle hurting). She decided to scratch and not compete in her one mile that day. This coming week will be her Districts as well at home in Kimberly.

I held another school dance at the middle school on the 17th. I do it to bring the whole school together for some fun, and as a bonus it brings fundraising money to the Library. We had a DJ come in and Pete even dared join the fun! I found out this last month I will be full time at the Middle School next year! I will continue to be part time librarian, and will teach an Exploring Academics class "aka math / school help" every other day. I'm grateful to be full time and a little intimidated to make it all work this coming year (teaching a class out of the library so I can make the library still run will be interesting).

Kendal took Alice to an Easter Egg hunt at the park the morning of the 19th. Casey and I had a day of yard work planned and Kendal was sweet enough to take Alice. We have added raspberry bushes to our backyard, and worked on making the front look great so far. Once school is out we'll get the side of the house dealt with as well as the fence in hopefully this summer.

This year we started Easter morning with a mini lesson on our Savior and all that Easter represent. (Kind of wanted to follow our Christmas morning tradition ; ). We spent the week leading up to Easter reading about the week leading up to Christ's last days on Earth. After our discussion we sent the kids off to find their baskets and hidden piles of Eggs. The Easter Bunny went hard this year knowing the kids were older and it took some time to even find their baskets. They found most of their goodies before we went to church. We had a beautiful Easter Sacrament meeting listening to wonderful music and messages. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out and finally finding the rest of the bundles of grass / eggs.

This last Sunday we went out to Raft River for the day. We joined Kenny and Cheryl at their church and spent the rest of the afternoon with everyone (minus Cody, Mia, and crew) for a Darrington belated Easter celebration. Kenny and Cheryl made an elaborate scavenger hunt with sweet messages all throughout. The kids had to go to different locations and do silly or fun things in order to get their message and then next clue. We went all up and down the area going from the house to Todd and Laurie's, to where Kenny's work equipment in stored, over to the water slides, then to the cemetery, and finally to the "crater" behind Kenny and Cheryl's house. It was a busy but fun afternoon together!

Alice went on a field trip to a local nursery on the 1st. She got to plant a flower and has been so protective of it.

Kendal had her Spring piano recital yesterday. She was a bit nervous and shaky, but played beautifully.

Little lady steals my phone while I do her hair. I've got a lot of this kind of pictures on my phone reel.
